I'm back on the rig and
still a bit sore, if you can believe it.
What am I thinking? Anyone who was there would believe it, and anyone's who is anyone was there.
Course, anyone who couldn't make it is still anyone. So everyone is anyone, meaning everyone is sore.
So we're all in this together!
I'm downloading the pictures from the DBPNY2 Photobucket account now. I'll update the Zip link for the pictures later today; don't try the old one. I deleted those pictures from my server a coup…

On a whim, without an assurance that I actually have the time off yet, I have purchased non-refundable tickets to New York. Yes, I don't actually have the time off the rig, but I'm tired of cancelling stuff I want to do because my relief operators are flakes. This time, I'm making my company work around MY schedule.
So, for better or worse, I'm goin' to New York!
*nervous gulp*

A helicopter crashes in SoCal a few months ago and it gets national coverage. A helicopter crashes on one of our platforms and it gets ignored. By even the local papers. Well. I see where we stand. Of course the crash a few months ago killed three people and no one died in our crash. Stupid survivors.
Anyhoo, what happened a few days ago was a big deal for us. The helicopter was coming in for a landing on Platform Irene. Basic landing procedure is the helicopter comes in at an angle, slows to a…

Don't know if it's gone national yet, but whenever it does, if you guys are wondering, I was not in the helicopter when it went down, nor did it crash on my platform. It was one of our other platforms to the north of mine. As far as we know right now, no one was hurt, but this is gonna sting us all out here for quite a while, I can tell you that.

Can't believe it took me this long to figure out Jesse's doing commentary on the DbP episodes. Where've I been?
They are quite cool and quite funny. It's always fun hearing from you guys. They help fill the wait for the final episode.

Two nights ago my computer took a dive. I was burning an audio CD in iTunes and the program froze up. So I reloaded and tried again. No luck. Then I found Windows XP froze up whenever loading My Computer. I figured my process of Explorer.exe had become temporarily corrupted and I needed to restart my computer. It happens from time to time because of various causes, the most likely being Microsoft is crap and can’t build a stable operating system to save its life. So I restarted. Things went down…

...someone hand me a gun.
*sigh* We have a bachelor pad which we'd like to fill with friends to hang out with us and have a rockin' good time with margaritas and music.
But, because most of our friends our age have children, and because most of our friends our age with children don't have babysitters, they take their children with them. We have a fifteen year-old (who's actually kinda cool), a five year-old (who's a good kid), a four year-old (who's not so good) and a two year-old (who's Beelz…

I'm not sure what to think of myself right now. I just spent six hours today re-editing The Matrix Reloaded to my own preferences. I watched it recently, for the first time since I saw it in the theaters and hated it, and you know what? I was pleasantly surprised. It's not complete crap. Granted, there's a lot of crap in it (mostly located in the Zion scenes in the beginning) but there were some golden moments there.
Hence my re-edit. My version is about forty minutes shorter and lacking in all…

I would like to announce that I am selling copies of
Night of the Living Dead. Not only am I selling copies, but I am selling them for profit. Yes, anyone who would like to buy a copy of
Night of the Living Dead may buy them from me at the mere cost of $999.99. In fact, I think I'll go one step further. I made
Night of the Living Dead. That's right, I am taking credit for the film. Why?…

Finally finished the first part of the
Cocoa Tales rewrite (what formerly was known as the first season for those who can remember back that far). Turned out to be around a hundred pages (twice as long as the original) which is about what I was shooting for. Shoulda finished that months ago but the move and the rig occupied more of my time than I'd have liked.
Now, on to Part Two, which will occupy the majority of the novel. Shooting for between 200 and 300 pages for this one. Guess that…

The above link appeared in a previous blog entry, though I didn't include the names of the songs I used in the project. Assuming you enjoy the music, I wholeheartedly encourage you to go out and purchase it. All music that I list here I purchased on iTunes, but you may find it elsewhere (Canadians will have heard of much of this music already as they're music is a lot better than our…

The last few days I've been eating right, exercising and showing a general desire to better myself. Lesson learned? Live every day of your life as if your ten-year high school reunion were coming up.
That is all.

I got nothing. No news to report. I'll be off the rig in a couple days and probably insanely busy the moment I touch land so I may not be online much then. So here's some stuff to snack on while I'm gone:
The Sun Can't See Shadows
Zip File / 192 MB
My album of original music.
Banished in You

My two weeks on land between hitches have always gone by quickly. It's like any two-week vacation: a blur. I'm used to that. Annoying as it may be, I've accepted that when I step out of the chopper and hit land, I'll blink and be right back at the airport ready to go out to the oil rig. That's life. But the weird thing now is my two-week hitches ON the rig are starting to speed up as well. I mean, it feels like I've just arrived and I'm already almost halfway through my hitch (Wednesday afternoo…

I hate, hate,
hate this day. This day created by greeting card companies to make us all feel like crap. I'll be in a constant cringe until tonight, when I crawl into bed. Alone.
Sorry I haven't been around much. I spent the entirety of the last two weeks moving and unpacking yet again. Now I'm in Sparks, NV, north of Reno instead of east of Reno. Found a nice place with my brother for dirt cheap that's gonna be the bachelor pad to end all bachelor pads. Seriously. We've got an enormous p…

UPDATE:
Okay, good news is I managed to snag a copy of the install file. Bad news is, as I suspected, the filter won't let me access the HD files. Oh well. I'll download them all when I get home.
The Bandwidth Nazis at work are blocking access to the Vuze download link; the website itself works but the download doesn't. I'd appreciate it if anyone who has access to a separate server could upload the install file and pass the link on to me. I have candy.
