Drawn by Pain Screening Part Deux

I'm sorry that this a duplicate of a previous discussion made a few months back, but unfortunately some complications came up and the discussion had to be remade again.

In this discussion we are talking about possible dates for the screening, hotel choices, travel arrangements for those who need help and activities to do while in New York. This screening is to not only celebrate the completion of the Drawn by Pain series with friends who share the same enthusiasm, but to also show support for Jes, Erica and the entire crew for their hard work over the last few years to produce a piece of work that has earned them the Peoples' Choice Webby Award.

In the previous discussion, we had spoke of September being the possible month for the screening and now that Jes has determined it will be in late September, as of now, we will need to start getting more people involved to make this event even better than the last.

For those who are planning to attend, please state if you are going so we can get a proper head count, this also includes all those who had stated they were going in the previous discussion. All information was lost and we will need to have everyone who participated in the original discussion to repost.

Sorry for the inconvienence this has caused and please be patient as we try to get things planned and organized for the second part of Drawn by Pain in New York.

Getting there and having a place to crash won't be a problem either. I can take the train down to Penn Station again like last time and push comes to shove I'll crash at my sister's house in S.I. So count me as a definite attend baring a major catastrophe! Looking forward to another great time hanging out with you guys! You have just been added to the list of people "going/may be going".

We are now up to 19 people who have confirmed or have stated that they will be trying to attend (including those who have said they were bringing a guest). Please keep passing the word around and continue to think about who you want to room with for the screening.

I am hoping to get hotel options posted this weekend or the following weekend. If people are not following this discussion, please be sure you mark that option so that you can be updated quickly on any new info on this event.; ▶ Reply to This

Buying tickets right now is hard, I will probably have a little more fundage closer to the event but with having just bought a new house and started a new job (went a week with no pay), I'm kinda hurting right now. I'm curious about rooming stuff since I will probably have to split costs with someone, I would rent the apartment if I had at least 2 others interested, but would need to know that soon to see if it is available.; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by Camael on July 29, 2008 at 1:02pm: As far as my travel plans go, I am heading out to New York Thursday morning, October 2nd, and will not be leaving until Tuesday afternoon, October 7th. I'm still lucky to find flight tickets under $500 (without tax) to get from one end of the country to the other.

Anyone purchasing plane tickets, just keep in mind that they may add extra charges between the time you purchase your tickets and the time you check in for your flight. This is due to the economy issue. I know there are some companies that are charging extra for carry-ons and food/drinks (normally the snacks you get on the flights) at this time. So just be prepared for having to pay extra when you go to check into your flight.

Also, please hold off on purchasing your plane tickets until we choose which hotel we are staying at. There are hotels who will do a free shuttle service from the airport to hotel (and vice versa). Some hotels will only do select shuttling to certain airports (example: PanAmerican has shuttle services to/from JFK & La Guardia).

So, if at all possible, don't purchase your tickets yet unless you have already made arrangements with family, friends or any other options you have available.; ▶ Reply to This
