I'm sorry that this a duplicate of a previous discussion made a few months back, but unfortunately some complications came up and the discussion had to be remade again.

In this discussion we are talking about possible dates for the screening, hotel choices, travel arrangements for those who need help and activities to do while in New York. This screening is to not only celebrate the completion of the Drawn by Pain series with friends who share the same enthusiasm, but to also show support for Jes, Erica and the entire crew for their hard work over the last few years to produce a piece of work that has earned them the Peoples' Choice Webby Award.

In the previous discussion, we had spoke of September being the possible month for the screening and now that Jes has determined it will be in late September, as of now, we will need to start getting more people involved to make this event even better than the last.

For those who are planning to attend, please state if you are going so we can get a proper head count, this also includes all those who had stated they were going in the previous discussion. All information was lost and we will need to have everyone who participated in the original discussion to repost.

Sorry for the inconvienence this has caused and please be patient as we try to get things planned and organized for the second part of Drawn by Pain in New York.

I'm just as concerned about the location as you are Josh. That is the reason why I am having a difficult time finding a cheap area in a decent part of the city. I've gone through a few booking sites to find deals, but so far most of what I have gone through have been questionable or right next to an airport (which I would like to avoid since I love sleeping at night without distractions from outside forces).

Last thing I want to see happen is someone getting hurt in an area we can avoid. So if anyone knows of a place they have stayed at, that is pretty decent in location and price, please post it.

I used to live near an airport so I wouldn't mind staying near one. It would actually help me sleep to be honest. When you post the hotels and prices, you should post whether they are in a questionable part of the city or near and airport and then everyone can decide from there. But at the same time, it would be nice to have most of us in the same hotel again. I was a little upset that some people stayed in a different one but i respect their decisions too.

I was looking at some online and can get the names a little later (I put them on a post-it and I can't find it atm).. they looked fairly decent, in good areas and not too pricey.. I didn't call any to try for a group discount though, so maybe they can do it.

Not sure where I might be staying if I can make it as the group I went with last year aren't going this year, so I would be by myself.. which sucks. However - I don't know why anyone would be upset by people staying in different places - it is a vacation/trip for pretty much everyone, and as such, they should be able to stay and go wherever they please.

however, in this case, I am likely going to need a place to stay and possibly some roommates (preferably girls...)

let me know!

Well i finally got the news from work i was hoping for, they approved my time off for that weekend and the following days. I want to get airline tickets very soon tho. Yes i realize prices may rise between now and then but i do know prices go up by the day regardless. I wish i could be more help in looking for arrangements as hotels and all but i dont really travel much or really know how to look into that stuff. So, the sooner i can know something the better. Otherwise I'm just gonna look up the same arrangements i had last year. Location IMO really is not all that important as long as a subway station is near....but i understand the need for safe locations as well, closer would be nice but i dont think its really necessary.

Well man, if you need roommates then I'm in again, this time I have a lot more money set aside, but I'm still a college student so if it can work out like it did last year than it would be great.

So I was looking at hotels for cheap prices (under $200 or at $200) and there's very limited close to NYC

So those are some of the ones I found. You just need to go to expedia.com for the best deals.

I will be posting more after work when I have more time. I apologize for these being late, several things came up I was not planning on that kept me from posting a list or even part of one on the hotels.

This one seems to be the best value to me and it is very close to all of the tourist-y stuff that we saw last year.

edit: Just saw the 7 night minimum. sorry. But that still might not bother me.

I won't be able to have roommates this time around. We only have a single queen size bed and she really wants her privacy.

Okay guys, we need to start deciding on what hotel out of those listed on the links would be good to stay at. We are running out of time. I'm open to where we can stay, but if people have preferences, please start speaking up. If no one says anything then we will have to make the PanAmerican our default.

I'm also requesting that if anyone is already staying at a seperate hotel than others, to please say so here so we have an idea as to where everyone is located at. This is to help narrow down a meeting place for people when we start up activities.

Josh, I am aware you and your guest are staying at the PanAmerican, so I have that noted already =)

Due to problems with my guests job, she unfortunately will not be able to attend as of right now but I am still going and I can have roommates after all. Sorry to flip flop on you guys so much but there has been a lot of craziness the past week or so.

And yes Jen, I am staying at the Pan Am. I found cheaper rates elsewhere but I figured that we were staying there again.
